Also, Manalapan will light the township menorah on Wednesday night.
Manalapan, NJ - New Jersey’s largest menorah is now up in Monroe Township at the corner of Perrinevlle and Prospect Plains roads.
Also, Manalapan Township will hold their annual Township Menorah candle-lighting ceremony on Wednesday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m. The menorah will be lit in front of Town Hall and the lighting will be led by Rabbi Robert S. Pilavin of Congregation Sons of Israel. Light refreshments will be served indoors after the lighting.
The giant menorah in Monroe was lit Sunday at 3:30 p.m. and will continue to be lit nightly through sundown on December 14 to celebrate the eight nights of Hanukkah. State Assemblyman Rep. Dan Benson (D-14th District) and New Jersey State Sen. Linda Greenstein (D-14th District) lit the menorah along with local business owners. The menorah is 32 feet tall, the height of the menorah in Rockefeller Center, which is billed as “The Largest Menorah in the World.” 32 feet is the highest legal size a menorah can be, according to Jewish law, Rabbi Eliezer Zaklikovsky of the Chabad Jewish Center of Monroe tells Patch.
