Old Bridge Residents Complain About Neighbor's Christmas Lights

The holiday season magic isn't making some Old Bridge residents too happy.

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — The holiday season magic isn't making some Old Bridge residents too happy.

In fact, some Old Bridge residents have complained to the Township about a sparkling, musical Christmas light display at Thomas Apruzzi's house on 18 Central Avenue, saying the show's statewide fame is attracting too many visitors.

Thomas Apruzzi puts on the dazzling holiday light show every year, reports NJ.com. But some neighbors say it attracts too many cars and unwanted traffic on what is normally a quiet, dead-end street. Apruzzi's house gets about 150 visitors per night. Apruzzi puts on his free light show every 28 minutes at night, and it is synched to music. It's open to the public all December long from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Apruzzi said they're just jealous.

"There are a lot of people talking smack about us. But it is what it is. You can't make anybody happy," Apruzzi told NJ.com. "I think it is pure jealousy. I think it's only a disturbance in their minds. I think they should work about their lives and not other people's lives."

Old Bridge Township administrator Himanshu Shah confirmed to NJ.com that several complaints have been filed about his decorations and lights. Old Bridge police have been set up at Central Avenue when the lights are on — which is every night — and the officers don't let non-residential cars onto the street.

Incredibly, Apruzzi told NJ.com he's poured an estimated $100,000 into his Christmas light show. His show is free, but people can leave donations and he donates all the proceeds to a non-profit that helps wounded service men and women afford homes.
