Pedestrian Killed In Route 18 Crash

A pedestrian was killed early Monday morning on Route 18 south in Marlboro, police said. A portion of the highway was closed for five hours.

A pedestrian was killed early Monday morning on Route 18 south in Marlboro, police said.

The crash shut down a portion of the highway for about five hours.

Around 4 a.m., Marlboro police were called to Route 18 south near County Road 520, said Capt. Fred Reck.

When officers arrived, they determined the pedestrian had been killed, he said.

The pedestrian’s name has not yet been released, because police were still working to notify the victim’s family.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Marlboro Township Traffic and Safety Bureau and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
