Roads Closed In Manalapan; 7,000 Still Without Power
At least five roads are closed for maintenance and repair on Wednesday, according to the township. Here's what to expect:
MANALAPAN, NJ – The aftermath of Tropical Storm Isaias continues to wreak havoc on Manalapan as 7,008 residences are still left without power as of 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to a slew of online posts made by Manalapan Township, unnecessary travel should be avoided as several streets in the area are closed due to downed wires and fallen trees. Read more: 153K Still Without Power In Monmouth County After Tropical Storm
Below are road closures listed as of 11 a.m. Wednesday:

- Millhurst Road near Station Street
- Pension Road near Deer Way
- Oakland Mills Road near Shepherd Way
- Union Hill Road between Blenheim Road and Pease Road
- Sweetmans Lane eastbound at Oakland Mills Road
Storm collection is slated to occur on Aug. 8. Residents are instructed to bring all debris to the curb prior to collection.
“Do not place it in the street,” the township wrote on Twitter. “Please be patient as it will take time for the trucks to make their way thru town.”

As a result of anticipated high temperatures on Wednesday, the township will be opening the Senior Center at 211 County Road 522 as a charging and cooling station for residents without electricity.
The cooling center will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today. The building will maintain a capacity of no more than 12 people at a time. Social distancing and face masks will be required.
In a press briefing early Tuesday, Gov. Phil Murphy said that, while the state is prepared to handle the power outages, restorations could take as long as days in some areas.
“This storm is escalating quickly and the numbers are rapidly changing,” Murphy tweeted during the storm. “We are in touch with all major utilities, which are working to restore power ASAP.”
The town hit the hardest by the power outages in Monmouth County is Middletown, followed by Marlboro and Freehold Township.
PSE&G is reporting 99.08% of Monmouth County customers are still without power as of 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
