ROBBINSVILLE, NJ — As the nation continues to mourn the passing of President George H.W. Bush, see this vintage Oct. 22, 1992 C-SPAN clip of Congressman Chris Smith introducing President George H. W. Bush at Robbinsville Airport.

Smith was a young congressman then, but he continues to represent New Jersey's fourth congressional district, which remained red this past October even with the "blue wave" that swept over the rest of the state. Four congressional seats flipped to blue this past October, leaving Rep. Smith New Jersey's lone Republican representative in Congress.

In his remarks, then-president Bush called for reforms in the nation’s educational system and the economy, and criticized his opponent’s character and record in Arkansas (Democrat Bill Clinton, who was governor at the time). However, Bush would lose the presidential election to Clinton ten days after he gave this speech in Robbinsville.
