War Of The Worlds 80th Anniversary
Brandywine Living at Princeton and Governor's Crossing Recall "War of the Worlds" Radio Panic on 80th Anniversary of Event
October 30, 2018 (Princeton, NJ) – We interrupt your afternoon to bring you a special bulletin: On October 30, 1938, Orson Welles and his group of radio actors interrupted regularly scheduled CBS programming to “report” that our planet had been invaded – right in our backyard in Grover’s Mill, New Jersey.
80 years later, local residents from Brandywine Living at Princeton and Governor’s Crossing, the premier provider of quality care and services to seniors, traveled to Van Nest Park located at 218 Cranbury Road, West Windsor Township, to see the War of The Worlds Monument and to reflect on what it was like to hear the broadcast live, and recall the fear and panic that followed long before anyone thought up the phrase “fake news.”
Residents were dressed in t-shirts with flying saucers and aliens to commemorate the occasion.
