Celebrate Italian Culture At The San Gennaro Street Festival
The Belmar Feast of San Gennaro, a two-day event celebrating the culture and cuisine of Italy, takes place September 14 and 15, 2019.

The Belmar Feast of San Gennaro, a two-day event celebrating the cultural heritage of Italy, takes place September 14 and 15, 2019, in downtown Belmar, New Jersey. The festival starts at 11:00 a.m. both days and ends at 6:00 p.m.
To kick off the festivities, St. Rose Catholic Church in Belmar will hold a special Mass of San Gennaro at 10 a.m. on September 14. During the event, Belmar Mayor Mark Walsifer will recognize local residents Rosalba Mistretta Morris with a San Gennaro of the Jersey Shore Italian-American Businesswoman of the Year award and Maria Florio with a Daughter of San Gennaro of the Jersey Shore award. The mayor will also honor a San Gennaro of the Jersey Shore Italian-American Businessman of the Year and a Son of San Gennaro of the Jersey Shore (recipients TBD).
At 1:00 p.m., adults and children will compete for bragging rights and prizes in the third annual cannoli-eating contest sponsored by Sweet!, a local Belmar candy and confection shop. All proceeds from the $15 admission fee will be donated to a local charitable organization. This year's recipient is the Belmar Circle of Friends HYDAS, a non-profit that benefits young adults with special needs. In 2018, the proceeds were donated to MidAtlantic Bulldog Rescue for the medical care of homeless bulldogs in need.
