Fantastic turnout for first Belmar Cruise Night of summer '18

Over 200 classic and vintage vehicles strutted their stuff in downtown Belmar, New Jersey, during Belmar Cruise Nights on July 18.

From Malibus and Mustangs, to Triumphs and Thunderbirds, more than 200 classic and vintage vehicles revved the crowds along Main Street in Belmar, New Jersey, during Belmar Cruise Nights on July 18.

“This was one of the best Cruise Nights to date and one of our most successful evenings,” said Sal Marchese, owner of Salon Marsal and president of the Belmar Business Partnership (BBP), which sponsors the vintage and classic car show. “We had a tremendous attendance, as well as many, many visitors walking up and down Main Street throughout the evening. Kudos to everyone involved for all their hard work and efforts to make this such a successful event for our community!”

In addition to curvy 1950s Chevy cruisers, highlights of the show included a mint Studebaker Avanti personal luxury coupe and a 1915 Ford Model T delivery truck. The Studebaker was a limited-production model, made only from 1932 to 1933. Unable to find a spot in the dedicated event space, the Model T hitched its trailer around the corner on 10th Avenue in front of Beckman’s Deli and the Sweet! candy and confection shop.

In downtown Pyanoe plaza, visitors admired a colorful assortment of hot rods, sports cars, and trucks, including a classic British Morgan coupe. The wide variety of vehicles on display also included a lime green Datsun 260Z, a Triumph TR8, an El Camino SS, a 1980s Monte Carlo, and plenty of Mustangs, GTOs, Mopars, and more.

“Excellent cruise night, first time I’ve gone and I’ll definitely be back,” wrote one participant on the BBP’s Belmar Cruise Nights Facebook page after the event.

Another Facebook follower commented: “My friend and myself parked our cars on Main Street around 3:00. We both live about one hour away, so we wanted to be sure we got there early enough. Awesome time can’t wait for the next time."
