Honors For Two Belmar Residents At 2019 Belmar Mayor's Ball

During the Belmar Mayor’s Ball on September 27, two Belmar residents were honored by Mayor Mark Walsifer and Belmar council members for their personal accomplishments and contributions to the community.

The honorees included Bruce Blattner, who was recognized with a Citizen of the Year award, and Jade Glab, who was named Honoree of the Year in recognition of her achievements to earn the title of Miss New Jersey 2019.

Blattner is a long-time volunteer with the Belmar First Aid Squad, Belmar Fire Department, Water Rescue Team, EMS Council, and the Belmar Public Library Board of Trustees. He also volunteers his time in support of the annual Autism Beach Bash and the Circle of Friends HYDAS. Blattner also serves as a school crossing guard at Belmar Elementary School and is a beach gate attendant during the summer.

Miss New Jersey Jade Glab, who attended Belmar Elementary School and will be majoring in finance at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, “has shown poise, determination and perseverance to attain her goals,” according to Belmar officials. She will compete in the 2019 Miss America Pageant at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, on December 19. After receiving her certificate of recognition, Glab showcased her vocal talents with a live performance of an operatic aria.

The 2019 Belmar Mayor’s Ball was held at the Waterview Pavilion. Musical entertainment was provided by the popular rock band Holme. Proceeds from the sold-out gala will benefit Belmar Recreation department youth programs.
