4 Police Officers Join Marlboro Police Department In 2021

MARLBORO, NJ - The Marlboro Township Police Department recently welcomed four new recruits in 2021, slated to replace five retired officers, Chief Peter Pezzullo announced this week.
The four police officers were sworn in by Marlboro Township Mayor Jonathan Hornik during a Jan. 4 ceremony at town hall.

- John Maloney, a Marine Corps veteran who recently worked as a communications operator at Rutgers University Police Department and a former member of the Marlboro Township Police Explorers.
- Ryan Stapleton, a graduate of William Paterson University who most recently worked as a Class II Police Officer for Belmar Police Department.
- Derek Ball, who worked as a Class II Police Officer in Marlboro Township, a former member of the Marlboro Township Police Explorers and a current member of the Marlboro Fire Company.
- Joseph Torres, a graduate of the University of Tampa, who worked as a seasonal lifeguard captain for the Borough of Bradley Beach and as a swimming instructor at the YMCA in Shrewsbury.
All four are Marlboro Township residents, according to Chief Pezzullo.
Officers Maloney and Torres will begin their training on Jan. 11 at the Monmouth County Police Academy. They are scheduled to graduate in May 2021.

Officers Stapleton and Ball will immediately begin working with certified Field Training Officers. The four officers are replacing the five police officers who recently retired from the Department.
“We welcome them to our Marlboro family and look forward to working with each and every one of them,” the department said in a statement.
