Boy Scout of America Troop 86 honors its 100th Eagle Scout

Boy Scout of America Troop 86 of Marlboro honors its 100th Eagle scout, Theodore Nguyen.

Boy Scouts Troop 86 of Marlboro proudly announces its 100th Eagle Scout. Theodore Hong-Co Nguyen of Marlboro has achieved the highest rank in Boy Scouting, the rank of Eagle scout. Achieving Eagle rank takes unwavering dedication, hard work and tenacity. And these are the very characteristics that are nurtured in Troop 86. Boy Scouting is very much a family affair for Nguyens, because Theodore's older brother Dylan Nguyen also earned the Eagle rank from Troop 86.
Theodore, a senior at Biotechnology High School, has held many leadership roles in Troop 86 such as an assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, den chief, assistant senior patrol leader, senior patrol leader, junior assistant scoutmaster and currently an assistant scoutmaster. He has fully immersed in Boy Scouting and is very dedicated and enthusiastic about all his roles. Fulfilling all the responsibilities that each of these leadership positions hold requires keen sense of time management and perseverance. Theodore is also an EMT with Morganville First Aid and enjoys playing saxophone for his school musical pit band, and plays the piano on his free time.

Theodore 's Eagle project was removing the old worn out information signs (Information Kiosks) at Bayonet Farm in Holmdel. The 4 by 6 information Kiosk was removed and dismantled. A new information kiosk was constructed and installed. The project was completed in a span of 3 weekends with help of 30 volunteers from Troop 86. Theodore choose this project because his family frequents the park and his parents in particular enjoy the park very much. So Theodore wanted to give back to the community by beautifying the space for everyone to use and enjoy. As a Boy Scout one of the thing you learn is that giving back to the community is very fulfilling, a sentiment expressed by Theodore.

Theodore states, "everything I learned at Troop 86 will stay with me and help me with my endeavors, especially my experience as a senior patrol leader, where I gained many leadership skills. "
