Brian M. Dowd, 50, of Colts Neck, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013 at Morristown Medical Center.  He was born May 8, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York, to Anthony and Anne Dowd, who has predeceased him.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Dowd of Colts Neck, the love of his life and
the woman credited with saving Brian from his “crazy life” by our mom when they were married on Nov. 27, 1992.

Brian is survived by his three children, Kristianne, Bryanna and Patrick Dowd of Colts Neck; a sister, Patti Dowd of Colts Neck; three brothers, Matthew Dowd of Rumson, Jonathon Dowd of Howell and Luke Dowd of Brielle; as well as several cousins and lots of nieces and nephews in the US and Ireland.

Brian spent his childhood moving every few years from Air Force base to Air Force base around the USA and the world until his family settled in Colts Neck, NJ.  It was at this time that he started at Rutgers University and after graduation joined his father and started his long career in the option pits on Wall Street. He spent almost ten years on the options markets in Chicago.

He loved sports, especially when his kids were competing.  He is exceptionally proud of what a great athlete his son, Patrick has developed into and what accomplished students his daughters, Kristianne and Bryanna have become in the field of Agricultural Sciences.

Brian loved to support the girls with their work in the FFA (Future Farmers of America).  He was also a strong supporter and member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians - Lacey Chapter.

Visitation washeld at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home on Aug. 25.

In the typical timely “Dowd Fashion”, the inurnment service will be at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dowd family, c/o Patti Dowd, 7 Wellington Court, Colts Neck, NJ 07722.
