Colts Neck To Build New Municipal Complex
The new complex will house Colts Neck police, municipal court and administration in a new two-story building. Will your taxes go up for it?
COLTS NECK, NJ — The mayor of Colts Neck announced this week the town will be building a new municipal complex. Renderings of what it will look like, plus costs, will be unveiled at a special meeting Wednesday night at town hall.
That meeting will go from 6-7 p.m. at the current Colts Neck Town Hall, 124 Cedar Drive.
"After five years of thorough evaluation and planning, the Colts Neck Township Committee is proud to announce its formal plans to construct a new municipal building at the Colts Neck Municipal Complex," the town announced in an email Sunday.

The current Colts Neck Municipal Complex is made up of four municipal buildings: Town hall, the police department, Colts Neck First Aid Squad and the Colts Neck Library. There are number of issues with those buildings: The municipal courtroom roof needs to be reinforced and the basement of police headquarters is unusable due to flooding.
The new complex will house the Colts Neck police department, municipal court and administration (tax collector, etc.) all in one new two-story, 16,000 square foot building.

"The time has come to replace our aging, sub-standard police/municipal court building, parts of which date back to the early 1960s," said Colts Neck Mayor Frank Rizzuto. "As assessed and confirmed by experts, design flaws along with persistent water infiltration have contributed to structural issues and problems. We've taken short-term remediation measures to address these issues, but these are not long-term solutions."
Costs for the project — and what that means for individual taxpayers — will be unveiled at the Wednesday night meeting.
Rizzuto and members of the Colts Neck Twp. Committee will be there, as will Township staff and professionals involved in the project will be on hand to provide an overview of the project and answer questions.
If residents have additional questions, they are encouraged to call Colts Neck Township Administrator Kathleen Capristo, 732-462-5470, ext. 107.
"As your elected officials, and as fellow taxpayers and residents of Colts Neck, one of our most important obligations is managing and investing taxpayer dollars wisely. Please rest assured that we take this responsibility very seriously, especially as we undertake this important project on behalf of the future of Colts Neck Township," said Rizzuto.
