“We need everyone to do their part to slow the spread by practicing social distancing and staying home when they are sick,” said Freeholder Director Thomas Arnone in a statement last week.
Arnone did not respond to a request for comment on Monday.
According to a Tuesday news update from the Monmouth County Health Department (MCHD), increased indoor activities coupled with the upcoming holiday seasons presents the potential for an increase in COVID-19 cases. The Monmouth County Health Department (MCHD) reminds everyone to protect themselves and others by following these guidelines:
- Know your risk, and if you are at higher risk for serious illness?
- Know how it spreads: The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.
- Everyone Should: Wash your hands.
- Avoid close contact: Put six feet of distance between yourself and people who don’t live in your household.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a mask when around others: Wear a mask in public settings, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. A mask is not a substitute for social distancing.
- Cover coughs and sneezes: Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
- Clean and disinfect: Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. Most common EPA-registered household disinfectants will work when they are used in accordance with label directions.
- Monitor Your Health Daily: Be alert for symptoms. Call your doctor and follow CDC guidance if symptoms develop.
To date, the MCHD has administered nearly 4,000 tests as part of the County’s COVID-19 Free Testing Program, which began in July. MCHD is conducting contact tracing for all residents who test positive.
The testing site locations, dates and hours of operation are posted on the County’s website at www.visitmonmouth.com. There will be 100 tests available per day, four days a week.
