Colts Neck Publishes Its Ice-Snow Control Plan
Colts Neck residents may review the specifics of the township's ice-snow control plan on the township website.

COLTS NECK, NJ - In any anticipated snowfall up to 3 inches, the township will respond with a specific plan, that includes brining the following main roads: Cedar Drive, Bucks Mill Road, Laird Road, Clover Hill Road, Montrose Road, Merchants Way, Five Points Road, Colts Neck Boulevard, Willow Brook Road, Stone Hill Road, Long Bridge Road, Cross Street, Heyers Mill Road, Laurelwood Drive and Maple Drive.
Also, Hillsdale Road, Muhlinbrink Road, Prothero Road, Heulitt Road, Lakeside Avenue, Squan Song Road, Scobeyville Drive, Colts Gait Lane, The Enclosure and Tulip Lane.
If the snowfall is fewer than 3 inches, the township will salt roads as needed throughout the storm event. For snow accumulation of 3 to 4 inches, plowing will begin with these priorities: First, fire, first aid and police buildings and vehicle access; response to fire, police, and emergency services, motor vehicle and accidents and all reported medical emergencies.
Next, plowing of the secondary arterial and collector roads, then side streets and cul-de-sacs.
All streets eventually be plowed, however, smaller streets may initially be passed by equipment operators in order to address larger streets. Equipment operators may suddenly leave an area at any time to respond to
an emergency situation.
Be aware that a truck with a raised plow does not always mean the driver has completed your area. They may simply be returning for fuel or vehicle service, returning to obtain additional treatment material or responding to assist with an emergency call.
Stay off the roads whenever possible. If you do need to drive, a good rule of thumb is to drive at a rate equal to half the posted speed limit or less, depending on the conditions.
Do not abandon any motor vehicles in any public right of way during a winter weather event.
There is no parking on any street during snow events. If there is a slight possibility of snow, do not park on the street. Vehicles left on the street will be towed at the owner’s expense.
No owner or occupant of a business shall plow snow onto adjoining properties or onto streets used by the
general public.
Do not plow, throw, stack or in any other manner move snow from your property onto public streets and if you hire a contractor to remove snow from your property, make sure that they are aware that no one is allowed to remove snow from private property onto a public street. This is critical to allow our crews to plow
curb-to-curb to facilitate drainage, garbage collection and mail delivery.
. Remove all recreation equipment such as basketball nets, soccer goals, and lacrosse goals as well as any garbage or recycling containers from the roadway to allow for curb-to-curb plowing.
To leave a message for the department of Public Works during a weather event, dial 732-462-7998. Messages will be retrieved throughout the event and responded to based upon priority.
