Construction Worker Fell 20 Feet Through Building In Marlboro

MARLBORO, NJ - A construction worker who was completing work on the roof of a Boundary Road business fell 20 feet through the roof Monday morning and sustained several injuries, authorities said.

Marlboro police received a 9-1-1 call at around 11:36 a.m. stating a worker had fallen through a roof and landed inside the building. The worker was identified as a 24-year-old male from North Plainfield, who was completing construction on the roof of a business located at 240 Boundary Road in Marlboro Township.

The worker fell approximately 20 feet and suffered injuries to his head, back, leg as well as some possible internal injuries, police said. The worker was conscious when officers arrived on location and was transported via ambulance to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

The worker is employed by Hageman Roofing Company based in Ridgefield Park. His condition Tuesday morning was not immediately available.

The Marlboro Township Police Department, Marlboro First Aid Squad, Marlboro Fire Department, Quality Medical Transport, and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital all responded to the scene Monday morning.

A Marlboro Township Building Inspector and an investigator from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) also responded to the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
