Fast-Food Restaurant May Be Coming to Marlboro, Old Bridge
A proposed fast-foot chicken restaurant is seeking permission to locate partially in Marlboro and partially in Old Bridge.
MARLBORO, NJ - The township Planning Board on Jan. 3 will convene a public hearing on the application of Chick-fil-A Inc. to build a 5,129 square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru window on two lots, one in Marlboro and the other in Old Bridge.
The applicant is American Plaza 3 and the eatery is proposed for Texas Road in Marlboro and an adjacent lot in Old Bridge. The hearing will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Marlboro Municipal Building, 1979 Township Drive.
American Plaza 3 LLC is asking for amended preliminary and final site plan approval and includes a request for an additional 22,978 square-foot retail building and associated site improvements, according to the legal notice advising of the hearing date.
The applicant needs an amended site plan because the previous approval was for a one-story bank building with drive-through service and a retail building with associated site improvements.
The application also received a series of variances and waivers at the time including those for lot areas, lot depth, lot width, frontage, rear setback, maximum impervious coverage and others. The new application is seeking permission for two signs, including an exterior menu board for the drive-thru.
The development application and all supporting maps, site plans, reports and documents are on file in the office of the township Department of Planning and Zoning and are available for public inspection during normal business hours.
According to its website, Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A Inc., is a family owned and privately held restaurant company founded in 1967 by S. Truett Cathy. It serves freshly prepared food in more than 2,200 restaurants in 46 states and Washington, D.C.
