Fire, Downed Power Lines In Marlboro After Car Hits Utility Pole

A small fire broke out this morning on Vanderburg Road after a vehicle hit a utility pole, authorities said. The road remains closed.

MARLBORO, NJ - Road closures, downed power lines and a small fire resulted after a vehicle struck a utility pole on Vanderburg Road in Marlboro, authorities said Thursday.

According to a statement from local police posted around 6 a.m., the Marlboro Fire Department responded Thursday morning to extinguish the electrical fire. There were no reported injuries.

As of 11:45 a.m., Vanderburg Road remains closed between Clymer Court and Albermarle Drive. Police officers are at the scene and a detour is in place.

JCP&L is on location and has started the repairs. About eight residences are affected by outages, according to the power authority's outage map. To report an outage, call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877).

Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
