Marlboro Prepares For Tropical Storm Isaias
Flooding, power outages and tornadoes may occur, according to Marlboro police. Here's the latest on how the storm will affect the area:
MARLBORO, NJ – As Tropical Storm Isaias continues on a path anticipated to bring strong winds and heavy rain to New Jersey on Tuesday, the Marlboro Township Police Department warns residents that the tropical storm brings the threat of flooding and isolated tornadoes. Winds of 45 to 55 mph (with gusts to 75 mph) are slated to occur Tuesday afternoon through the evening.
In a statement posted to social media, the township police notified locals that the Marlboro region will most likely see the effects of the storm as early as Monday night into Tuesday morning. The area will likely see “very heavy rains and the potential for near hurricane force winds,” according to the post.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook – including a Tropical Storm Warning and Flash Flood Watch – in effect until midnight on Wednesday, Aug. 5.

Heavy rains are expected to impact most of the state with the potential for flash flooding, the National Weather Service's Mount Holly office stated on Monday morning. The once-anticipated hurricane was downgraded to a tropical storm on Saturday afternoon, according to a Sunday update from the National Hurricane Center. The township reminds residents to remove non secure outdoor items from patios and decks, as well as any valuables in low-lying areas or those prone to flooding. Residents are urged to report any power outages by calling JCP&L at 1 (888) 544-4877.
