Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital Zombie Attraction Opens For The Season

The terrifying attraction is based on a real-life local psychiatric facility.

Marlboro's C. Casola Farms will open its annual haunted attractions this Saturday, Sept. 23. The farm offers a classic assortment of haunted options for horror lovers, including a hayride, a barn, a wooded trail and a maze.

The Marlboro Zombie Breakout is a unique attraction is based on the real-life Marlboro Psychiatric Facility, which closed in 1998 and was demolished last year. For 67 years, mentally ill patients sought treatment at the hospital, and it was plagued with reports of patients committing suicide or simply leaving.

According to the attraction description, an antidote created by a deranged doctor accidentally turned patients into zombies, who are now terrorizing C. Casola Farms. Those brave enough to face the zombies can ride through the haunted environment, targeting the zombies with paintball guns. (Check out a scary teaser video below.)

For those who get a little hungry after being terrorized, typical festival-type food will be available for purchase.

The haunted attractions run Friday through Sunday from 7 p.m. and 11 p.m., with attractions closing an hour earlier on Sundays. It will run through the last weekend of October, including a special Halloween night date. Ticketing and price information can be found here.
