Marlboro's Holiday Lighting Will Go On But With Heat Lamps

Marlboro Township officials are taking extra steps to make those who attend tonight's holiday celebration more comfortable.

MARLBORO, NJ - Township officials previously had scheduled holiday celebrations at town hall. But then, they took a look at the weather forecast and decided they needed a little something extra: the township will have heat lamps scattered throughout the locations and the town hall lobby will be open for anyone who needs to a break from the frigid temperatures outside.

Dress warmly. It may even be a BYOB night, as in bring your own blanket.

Mayor Jon Hornik earlier had invited one and all to the annual township holiday lighting tonight at 6 p.m. This multi-cultural and welcoming event celebrating the winter holidays will feature music provided by the Marlboro High School Jazz band and chorus, visits and photo-ops with Santa and his elf and Little Miss Dreidel. You may also leave a note for Santa in our ‘Santa Letter Drop.'

"Our sense of community spirit (along with winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves) will keep us warm," Hornik said. "Following the ceremony, come inside and warm up with hot apple cider and lots of treats donated by Marlboro Whole Foods."

The township also is collecting new unwrapped childrens toys in partnership with Charity Kings. Donation boxes will be available that evening and also are placed in Town Hall and the Recreation Center now through Dec. 20.
