More Appointment Cancellations At 2 Monmouth Co. Vaccine Sites

The county commissioners announced the cancellation of Friday and Saturday appointments at 2 sites due to the continued delay in deliveries.

FREEHOLD, NJ – Vaccine appointments for Friday and Saturday at two county-sponsored sites are canceled due to the continued delay in vaccine deliveries, officials said Thursday.

Appointments for Feb. 18 through Feb. 20 at Brookdale Community College and the Monmouth County Agricultural Building are cancelled due to the continued delay in vaccine deliveries, the Monmouth County Board of Commissioners said in a statement. The update comes a day after the officials announced initial delays on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“The County still has not gotten notification that the vaccines have even shipped yet and so we have no choice but to cancel the scheduled appointments for Friday and Saturday,” said Commissioner Director Arnone. “Again, we apologize for this inconvenience to those with scheduled appointments, but since Monmouth County administers every single vaccine dose that we receive as soon as we get it, we literally do not have one vaccine on hand right now.”

Everyone that had an appointment scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday of this week will be contacted next week to be rescheduled, according to Commissioner Sue Kiley.

A previous statement from the officials noted that vaccines could not be delivered on time this week due to the inclement weather in the South and Midwest regions of the country.

New Jersey has expanded the list of eligible people, allowing police and fire professionals and people older than 65 to get the vaccine. Front line workers and those with medical conditions are also eligible. You can find out if you qualify for a vaccine here: When Can You Get COVID-19 Vaccine In NJ? Here's The New 2021 List
