Morganville Teen Killed On Rt. 18 Was Brookdale Student
Jacob Rivera, an 18-year-old student at Brookdale killed in a Rt. 18 car crash Saturday, is remembered as a hard-working, religious teen.

MARLBORO TOWNSHIP, NJ — The 18-year-old Morganville teen killed over the weekend in a Rt. 18 car crash was Jacob Dylan Rivera, a student at Brookdale Community College.
The fatal crash occurred at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 on Rt. 18 near James Street. Rivera apparently lost control of the car, hit the curb and collided with a tree, Old Bridge police told Patch. Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rivera was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Morganville, Marlboro Township. He attended local Marlboro schools before attending Calvary Christian School, a private high school in Old Bridge. He had just graduated from high school in June of this year and was attending Brookdale Community College, where he was aspiring to be a computer programmer.

Rivera was very involved with his church, Calvary Chapel Old Bridge. According to his obituary from Old Bridge Funeral Home: "He was active for many years as a young man with the nursing home outreach ministering to the elderly. Jacob enjoyed many activities including exercising, rock climbing, hiking and video games. His friends and family would describe him as funny, dependable, having a good work ethic, smart, brave, loyal, protective and respectful to name a few of his characteristics. He is survived by his loving parents Rafael and Brenda Mena Rivera, brother Lucas and his wife Hannah, brother Max, brother Ralphie, sister Joelle, grandmothers, Elena Rivera and Ramona "Ma" Mena, his aunts and uncles, Darlen Purcell, Harry Mena, Norma Rivera, Frances Rivera, Maria Rivera, Daniel Rivera, Anibal Rivera Jr. and many loving cousins, family members and friends.

Family and friends are invited to remember Jacob during visitation hours on Tuesday, November 21 from 4-7 PM, a service to celebrate his life will begin at 7PM at Calvary Chapel Old Bridge, 123 White Oak Lane, Old Bridge. A funeral ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 22 at 10:30AM followed by interment in Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Old Bridge Funeral Home.
