COLTS NECK, NJ — Heads up: If you hear loud noises or see extra security around Naval Weapons Station Earle in Colts Neck next week, it's because the base will be doing planned force protection exercises. The drills will commence Monday, Feb. 3 and last for two weeks, through Feb. 14.
Measures have been taken to minimize disruptions to local communities, but there may be times when the exercise causes increased traffic around the base or delays in base access, said an NWS Earle spokesman.
Area residents may also see or hear security activities associated with the exercise. Local law enforcement has been notified.
