St. Leo The Great Student Creates 'Recycling Rocky' For Monmouth

Kiernan Turbitt, a student at St. Leo the Great School in Lincroft, created this recycling mascot you'll soon be seeing all over Monmouth.

LINCROFT, NJ — Meet Recycling Rocky, Monmouth's first-ever "Recycling Mascot."

Rocky is the creation of Kiernan Turbitt, a student at St. Leo the Great School in Lincroft. Kiernan won first place in a competition Monmouth County held this past winter, where they asked local public school students to come up with a recycling mascot for the county.

Kiernan wrote a story about Recycling Rocky and the “Environmental Buddies” and how they helped recycle a sad soda bottle and turned him into a happy blue thermos.
