Gov. Murphy Announces More NJ Business Coronavirus Reopenings

WATCH: Gov. Murphy announced more reopenings in NJ but he also plans to take action against alleged violators. Here's the latest.

NEW JERSEY – Gov. Phil Murphy, speaking during a Friday news conference, announced more New Jersey reopenings as the coronavirus outbreak's impact continues to decline. Murphy made the statement as he announced an additional 495 coronavirus cases and 48 more deaths (you can watch it here, below).

The announcement comes as Asbury Park reversed its plan to reopen its indoor dining on Monday and defy state coronavirus rules after Murphy got a court order to stop the city. Read more: Asbury Park Reverses Reopen Plan After Gov. Murphy's Court Order

Murphy said his administration has made progress because of the state's social distancing efforts and its business shutdowns.

"There is a method to what we're doing," he said, saying the virus is "multiples" more lethal inside than outside. "We're taking steps in small batches."

Those batches help educate the Murphy administration, he said, and give officials the ability to decide what should open next.

If he took 10 steps on Monday, Murphy said, and the administration had a flare-up, it would be hard for New Jersey to contain it.

He pointed to evidence of progress:
