Annual 12th Night Celebration Cancelled In Mendham

Fire officials said new environmental regulations meant they wouldn't be able to get the necessary permits.

MENDHAM, NJ — Citing more stringent environmental regulations, the Mendham Borough 12th Night celebration has been cancelled after 30 years.

“We’ve enjoyed hosting the Twelfth Night Celebration, and it’s a shame to see such a great Mendham Borough tradition end,” Mendham Fire Chief Mike Bruin said.

New and more stringent regulations from the DEP, including the NJ Clean Air Act, has made it impossible to receive the necessary permits to hold the burn, Bruin said.
