Bucco Congratulates Biden, Harris On Inauguration Day
The longtime Republican lawmaker said today is a reminder to focus on shared ideals as Americans.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ - Republican Senator Anthony M. Bucco congratulated President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on inauguration day Wednesday, wishing them success in their new roles leading the nation.
“I congratulate President Biden and Vice President Harris on their swearing in today. Inauguration Day is a reminder of our shared ideals as Americans, and allows us to refocus on working together to build a better nation and advancing the common good," Bucco said. "I wish them the best, particularly as we continue to face the devastating challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Bucco last spoke out on national events nine days ago, when he abstained from voting on a Senate resolution condemning the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. According to Bucco, the Senate resolution that could further inflame tensions following the violence.

"All of us in the Legislature, Republican and Democrat, condemn the violence that occurred last week in Washington, D.C. I would have voted without hesitation for a resolution that was focused on condemning that violence as well as the President’s rhetoric which inflamed the crowd and led to the dangerous situation seen last week," Bucco said in a statement. “Leadership requires bringing people together, regardless of party, and it is my hope that we can turn the page, dial down the temperature in our politics, and return to a more civil discourse in our pathway forward as Americans.”
