Chester Bluegrass Fest Raises $10K for Work Camp

Performances from 14 acts will help fund project to build homes for families in Kentucky.

Attendees of the 5th Annual Front Porch Bluegrass Festival and Pig Roast in Chester Saturday had something to be happy about besides the funky tunes.

The event, held at Gazebo Park at the municipal field on Main Street, helped raise $10,000 for a program that brings volunteers together to build homes for families in need, according to The Star-Ledger. The money will go to the Big Youth Group Work Camp, which will bring 95 volunteers to Kentucky to build homes for low-income families, the Ledger reported.

The event itself featured 40-minute sets of 14 acts and bands. Kids were welcomed to attend as the sounds of Bluegrass and American songs filled the gazebo area.
