Chester Boy Scout Reaches Eagle Rank

Jaymes Trevisan Honored At Eagle Scout Ceremony

Jaymes Trevisan, son of Ray and Stephanie Trevisan of Chester, NJ, has achieved Boy Scouting's highest rank, that of Eagle Scout. He received his Eagle badge during a court of honor ceremony on December 14that the Community Presbyterian Church in Chester.

To earn the award, a Scout must be active with and assume a position of leadership in a troop, earn a minimum of 21 merit badges, and complete a service project that benefits the community. The ceremony was attended by Chester Lion’s Club President Casper Meijer, Chester Township Mayor Marcia Asdal, Chester Borough Mayor Janet Hoven, and New Jersey State Senator Anthony Bucco.

Jaymes began his tenure in scouting in the 2nd grade as a Cub Scout, joining Pack 316 in Chester. It was there that he developed a passion for the outdoors, along with the love for various activities and the friendships that he cultivated as part of the program. Jaymes continued his scouting journey, joining Boy Scout Troop 139 in Chester. Since that time, he participated in numerous camping outings, hiking trips, and community services projects, all of which helped him develop and grow his leadership skills. Some of Jaymes’ fondest memories are from those moments working with fellow scouts during various high adventure trips. These include back packing in Maine and sailing and snorkeling at the Boy Scout Sea Base high adventure facility in Florida. Most recently Jaymes held the position of Troop Instructor, teaching and mentoring younger scouts essential life skills, while earning a total of 22 merit badges along the way.

For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Jaymes constructed a bee pollination habitat and garden, located adjacent to the Chester Community Garden. Jaymes points out that bees are responsible for most of the pollination in our environment, making them crucial to our ecosystem, but unfortunately have suffered extreme losses in recent years. The bee habitat that Jaymes and his team built will supplement the pollination of this and other garden plots in the area that grow fresh vegetables to support local food pantries.

Jaymes is a recent graduate of West Morris Mendham High School where he served as captain of the boys tennis team, was president of the Future Business Leaders of America Club and is an IB Career Academy Graduate. As a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Chester, he participated in two Appalachian service projects, working to improve the quality of life for struggling families in both Kentucky and West Virginia. Jaymes is currently studying Environmental Science and Business, as a Freshman at The University of California Santa Barbara and hopes to pursue a career after graduation in the field of energy production, supporting the effort to improve sustainable energy sourcing.
