Chester Firefighter Passes Away After Cancer Battle

John Patrick McNulty was a firefighter, veteran, and father. He was just 31 when he passed away following battle with cancer.

CHESTER, NJ — Obituary via Leber Funeral Home:

John Patrick McNulty, 31, of Chester, NJ passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. John was born on July 15, 1987 in Morristown, NJ. He has lived in Succasunna and Chester for his entire life. John was a proud US Navy Veteran and served on the USS Dallas Submarine.

John attended West Morris Mendham High School and Norwich College where he played football and wrestled. He loved swimming and the ocean. He liked to cook, and was known for his Cincinnati Skyline Chili and Stir Fry. John will be remembered as a fun-loving person that enjoyed helping people. He was a 15 year volunteer for the Chester Volunteer Fire Company. Most of all, he loved spending time outdoors, camping and hiking with his daughter, Shannon.

John is survived by his daughter, Shannon McNulty, parents, Douglas and Elizabeth McNulty, siblings, Thomas and wife Kerry, Stephen and wife Elise, Katherine Orgera and husband Michael, his nieces and nephews, Jack, Madison and Kaylee, and his beloved friend, Jane McAndrew.

A Celebration of John’s Life will include a memorial visitation from 4pm to 8pm on Monday, June 24, 2019 at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ (908) 879-3090. A 10am funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 25 at St. Matthew the Apostle Church in Randolph, NJ. Interment will be held privately by the family.
