Chester Junior Olympian Sweeps Regional Track Events

The 7-year-old Junior Olympian is headed to Nationals later this summer.

CHESTER, NJ — A seven year-old Chester boy has pulled off am impressive track feat, taking home four regional wins in two events, and qualifying for nationals.

Will Van Etten of Chester won the 1500 meter and the 800 meter at four regional events in the past month: USA Track and Field NJ Junior Olympics (June 11), USATF Junior Olympics Region 2 Championship (July 9), Amateur Athletic Union NJ Junior Olympics (June 4) and AAU Junior Olympics region 1 (July 1 and 2).

Van Etten first won state titles to qualify for the regional events. The USATF Region 2 area consists of NJ, PA, MD, DE and upstate NY. The AAU Region 1 Area consists of NJ, NY, MA, CT, NH, RI, VT and ME.
