Chester Road Resurfacing Project Expected To Start June 28

CHESTER, NJ — There are 15 streets that are part of an upcoming micro paving project in Chester Township, expected to begin around Monday, June 28, where drivers may encounter traffic delays as roads are worked on.

Residents who live on one of the streets being worked on, should receive a notice at least 24 hours before work starts.

These roads are slated for micro paving, which Craig Reiner - Chester Township's Department of Public Works' Superintendent - compared in a June 18 letter to a stronger version of a driveway sealant.

As part of that micro paving process, Reiner said it can take at least three hours for the surface to cure, depending on weather and other factors. The township, he added, is planning to shut down one side of each road at a time for the project.

During the project, residents will be allowed to park their cars in sections away from the work zone, then walk back and forth. It’s recommended for residents whose road work lands on a Wednesday or Friday, to put their garbage and recycling out no later than 6 a.m. on those days, Reiner said.

Residents will also be unable to landscape next to the street and heavy truck traffic won’t be permitted until sundown on the day micro paving happens, because of possible damage to the newly-treated surface.

Reiner said the schedule below is tentative and subject to change, based on weather and scheduling factors.
