Chester's Sweet Spot Bake Shoppe Closing Storefront To Walk-Ins
The resilient eatery has survived Cupcake Wars, Superstorm Sandy, Tropical Storm Isaias and COVID-19. Now they are evolving.

CHESTER, NJ - Cheryl Brown's Sweet Spot Bake Shoppe has faced a lot of adversity since opening in February 2010 and has constantly evolved with those challenges. Coming April 26 is the next evolution.
"We will be closing our storefront to walk-in traffic. As a mom of two small children, the demands and long hours of retail business is taking too much time away from my family," Brown said on social media. "I feel I can best support my family and my business by focusing my attention on custom orders. This decision was not made lightly, but it was done knowing how our community has supported us for the past 11 years and with the hope you will continue to do so."
The bakery won top prize on Food Network's "Cupcake Wars," survived Superstorm Sandy, Tropical Storm Isaias COVID-19 and at one time created the official Patch cupcake. But now the Long Valley native says after a decade of serving countless treats, provided numerous confections for holidays and special occasions and overcoming the adversity faced by small business owners everywhere, it is time to make a change to the business model.

"I want to say a very special thank you to the staff that has helped me grow this business to where it is today, as well the staff that has agreed to stay with me through this transition," she said.
The business will offer custom order pickups 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday and Sunday. Brown noted in the next two weeks there will be changes to the website, social media accounts and the storefront.
