COVID-19 Cases Still Creeping Up In Mendham, Chester
Despite the advent of the vaccine, the number of infected residents is still on the rise.
Despite the rollout of several versions of the COVID-19 vaccine, the cases are still on the rise in Mendham and Chester, albeit at a very slow rate.
In Mendham Borough on March 17 there were 305 total positive cases reported in the community and on March 18 that number had increased to 307. March 19 saw them jump to 309 before the weekend. On Monday the cases were 315, Tuesday 316 and 317 on Wednesday and Thursday.
In Mendham Township on March 17 there were 267 total positive cases reported in the community and on March 18 that number had increased to 270. March 19 saw them jump to 271 before the weekend. On Monday the cases were 282, Tuesday 285, Wednesday 287 and Thursday 288.

In Chester Borough on March 17 there were 99 total positive cases reported in the community and on March 18 that number had increased to 101. March 19 saw them jump to 336 before the weekend. On Monday the cases were 102, Tuesday 102, Wednesday 103 and Thursday 103.
In Chester Township on March 17 there were 446 total positive cases reported in the community and on March 18 that number had increased to 450. March 19 saw them jump to 454 before the weekend. On Monday the cases were 461, Tuesday 462, Wednesday 465 and Thursday 467.

This week Governor Phil Murphy addressed pandemic fatigue in light of the fact that cases are rising in many parts of the Garden State.
"We know there’s tremendous pandemic fatigue, but we need to slow the spread," Murphy said, reiterating the need to wear a mask, social distance, wash hands and use common sense.
As of Thursday morning 3,716,710 vaccine doses have been administered in New Jersey with 2,393,401 first doses of either the Moderna or Pfizer Vaccine and 1,322,235 fully vaccinated New Jerseyans.
Drilling down, that equates to 179,146 Morris County residents with at least one vaccine dose and 102,336 fully vaccinated residents.
