Explore The Universe At The CCM Planetarium

The planetarium offers three shows every weekend, which are great for kids as young as four.

RANDOLPH, NJ— You can explore the universe without ever leaving Morris County, thanks to three new shows at the County College Of Morris' planetarium.

The three shows-- Space Extreme, Shapes in the Sky, and Tour of the Planets-- will take you on a tour of outer space and teach you about the cosmos.

“This planetarium is a hidden gem of Morris County – an exceptional facility that offers a terrific educational opportunity for science students at County College of Morris and also benefits students from across the county at the high school and junior high school levels,’’ said Morris County Freeholder Director Doug Cabana.

The Longo Planetarium is located on the Randolph campus of CCM, and seats 91 people. Public shows are $10 per person. You can make a reservation on the planetarium's website.

Space Extreme

Fridays, 7-8 p.m. (Ages 8 and older)

The universe contains an amazing number of extreme objects and events. The Space Extreme series explores the biggest, hottest and most amazing of them. You can visit black holes, supernovae, colliding galaxies and others – all of which push the edge of understanding and imagination. The dates are March 10, April 21, May 12, June 9, July 14, August 11, September 8, October 13 and November 10.

Shapes in the Sky

Saturdays 3-4 p.m. (Ages 4 and older)

Shapes in the Sky is a storytelling series featuring fun myths and legends from around the world and throughout history. The whole family will enjoy the engaging tales told in the program, which are great for every age. The dates are March 11, April 22, May 13, June 10, July 15, August 12, September 9, October 14 and November 11.

Tour of the Planets

Saturdays, 5-6 p.m. (Ages 6 and older)

Tucked away in a roomy section of the Milky Way is an average star, surrounded by a small collection of eight planets, hundreds of moons, and uncountable asteroids and comets. They just appear as tiny specks from far away, but in the Tour of the Planets series, you will see that each of them has a remarkable, unique story to tell. The dates are March 11, April 22, May 13, June 10, July 15, August 12, September 9, October 14 and November 11.
