Fighter Jets Intercept Planes Violating Restricted Airspace In NJ

Two small craft violated the "no-fly zone" established for President Donald Trump's weekend visit.

NORTH JERSEY - The screeching sounds of fighter jets roaring overhead Saturday and Sunday prompted phone calls to first responders and outcry on social media as the aircraft were scrambled to intercept a pair of planes that violated the "no-fly zone" established for President Donald Trump's weekend visit.

The Federal Aviation Administration had issued a temporary flight restriction for VIP movement for the Bedminster area from Friday through Sunday. The jets were sent up to escort the craft out of the no-fly zone, and they did so without incident. Officials noted both incidents are under investigation.

The last time Trump visited his golf club was on June 11 to 12 for a re-election campaign fundraiser. Trump later canceled plans to arrive on June 26 due to protests following George Floyd's death. Read More: Trump Cancels Bedminster Weekend Plans, With New Explanation
