Former Chester Resident, Veteran, Fireman, Old Mill Owner Dies

Arthur 'Hank' Henry Skinner was a member of the Chester Volunteer Fire Company for almost 55 years.

CHESTER, NJ - Obituary provided by the William J. Leber Funeral Home.

Arthur "Hank" Henry Skinner, 84, of Belvidere, NJ passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019 at home. Hank was born on June 16, 1935 in Ralston, NJ. A long time Chester resident, he lived in Belvidere for the past 13 years. He was a past owner of the Old Mill Tavern in Chester.

Hank was a proud veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Chester Volunteer Fire Company for almost 55 years, serving as Chief, President, and secretary of the NJ State Relief Association and a past member of the Chester First Aid Squad. He was a member of the Chester American Legion and the AMV ETS of North Port, Florida.

Hank enjoyed golfing and spending the winter months with his wife in North Port, Florida. He was an avid Yankee fan with his favorite player being Mickey Mantle.

Hank is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lorett "Lorie" Skinner, his son, Gary Stapperfenne and wife Maria, daughter, Joanne Hattrich and husband David, grandchildren, Carly, Evan, Mark, Dan, and Amelia, and his brother, Jim. He was predeceased by his brothers Bob, Bill and his sister Ruth Crotsley.

A Celebration of "Hank's" Life will include a visitation on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ with a firemen's service at 7:30 PM. After a brief service and remembrance at 10 AM on Saturday, January 4, internment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chester Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 506, Chester, NJ 07930.
