Mayor's Wager Over Central-Mendham Football Game
Washington and Chester Township mayors are wagering donuts and ciders over the annual cross-district football game, Friday night.
CHESTER, NJ — It's time for the annual West Morris Mendham versus West Morris Central football game, and the stakes have never been higher, with the local mayors getting involved.
Chester Township Mayor Marcia Asdal challenged Washington Township Mayor Matt Murello to a friendly wager: whichever town loses needs to treat the other to donuts and cider from a local farm.
"Mayor Matt Murello - care to make a bet on tonight's Mendham vs. Central football game?! How about Hacklebarney Farm Cider Mill, Bakery and Farm Store cider & donuts for Ort Farms cider & donuts? Go Minutemen!" Asdal wrote on her Facebook page.

"Just an FYI to everyone that tonight's WMC-WMM football game has real consequences now.... let's go PACK," Murello said, sharing Asdal's challenge on his Facebook page.
Chester Township Councilman Mike Inganamort got in on the fun, teasing Murello that he should call ahead to Ort farms because "it's going to be a big order."
"I was just looking at our Monday Committee agenda. Should I add a presentation of cider and humble pie from the entire Chester Twp Committee on there now?" Murello shot back, to which Inganamort replied with his town's next committee meeting.
The game starts at 7:30 p.m. at Central High School. Can't make it out? You can watch a live stream at Morris Sussex Sports.
