Mendham Borough Residents: Lock Your Cars, Please
Officials will continue to repeat the message until it sinks in. Lock it or lose it.
MENDHAM, NJ - It seems as if locking your car and taking the keys inside the house with you continues to be difficult for Mendham Borough residents as officials are again pleading to help them help you by safeguarding your belongings.
The Borough has experienced a rash of attempted car thefts and successful thefts and, according to officials, these thieves are brazen, officials said. Video coverage has shown that they are not deterred by driveways lighted by floodlights or video cameras.
"The only thing that will prevent these thefts is for residents to be diligent and remove the key from the car, remove valuables from the car, and lock your car doors," officials said in a statement. "We will continue to remind residents on an ongoing basis to remove your key fob, but we urge you to come up with your own system for evening lockdowns of your property."
