Mendham, Chester To Celebrate Arbor Day With Seedling Giveaway
Mendham Borough and Chester Township will give away some seedlings this weekend.
Mendham Borough and Chester Township will celebrate Arbor Day with two events, giving away seedlings to residents.
Mendham Borough will hold their giveaway from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday through Sunday at the Public Works Garage, 37 Ironia Road. Chester Township will be giving away seedlings from 9 a.m. to noon in the Chester Library Parking Lot, 250 West Main Street.
Supply is limited — first come, first served.

New Jersey celebrates Arbor Day on the last Friday in April, which this year is April 30. The Garden State celebrated its first Arbor Day in 1884.
The nation's first Arbor Day occurred 12 years prior in Nebraska, where more than one million trees were planted. Each state had a law designating Arbor Day by the 1920s.
