One Vote Separates Mendham Twp Committee Race

MENDHAM, NJ — The polls are closed in the Mendhams and Chesters and results will start coming in soon for local committees, councils, school boards, and one mayor's office.
All winners are projected and unofficial until results are confirmed by the election clerk. Projected winners will be marked in bold once all precincts have reported results.
Mendham Township
Here are the real-time results for the Mendham Township Committee, as of 10 p.m. with all districts reporting. Four candidates are running for two seats:

- Melissa Saharko, Democrat 932
- Trishna Goswami, Democrat 912
- Jordan Orlins, Republican 933
- Thomas Baio, Republican 940
The race for Mendham Township committee remains too close to call, with just a single vote separating Saharko and Orlins with all districts reporting. Results are not yet certified by the election clerk.
None of the candidates have issued concession statements as of 11:48 p.m., but the Democrats acknowledged how close the race was, writing on their campaign Facebook page, "This election is currently separated by one vote. One vote."

The elected candidates will each serve three years.

- Andrew Christmann
- Gretchen Holquist
- Joan Mody
Because the three Board of Education candidates ran unopposed, Patch is projecting them the winners as soon as polls close.
Chester Township
Here are the real-time results for the Mayor's office, with all five districts reporting:
- Republican Marcia Asdal 1,115
- Democrat James G. Duffy 1,039
Mendham Borough
Four candidates are running for two open seats on the Mendham Borough Council. Here are the real time results with all districts reporting:
- Mary Sue Martin, Republican 795
- James R. Kelly, Republican 833
- Melissa Young, Democrat 713
- Laura Montenegro, Democrat 736
Current councilman David Sharkey has not filed for reelection; his term expires at the end of the year.
Here are the real-time results for the local Mendham Borough Board of Education:
- Barry Haines, three-year term 942
- John E. Vitale, three-year term 857
- James Gillespie, three-year term 956
- Raechelle Raimondo, one-year term 960
Here are the real-time results for the local Mendham Borough representative on the West Morris Regional Board of Education:
- Thomas R. Brooks 939
Because all three races for Board of Education are uncontested, Patch is projecting the candidates as winners as soon as polls close.
Chester Borough
Two candidates are running for two open seats on the Chester Borough
- Karen Ferrone, Republican 254
- Russell Goodwin, Republican 259
Because Ferrone and Goodwin ran unopposed, Patch is projecting them the winners as soon as polls close. Chester Borough's lone district has since reported results.
The Chester Board of Education
Three candidates are running for three open seats on the regional Chester Board of Education. They are:
- Kerri Wright 1,469
- Heather Ronco 1,457
- Amy Collins 1,468
Because the candidates ran unopposed, Patch is projecting them the winners as soon as polls close.
