A fast moving fire on Mountainside Road was brought under control by faster moving first responders, officials said.

MENDHAM, NJ - A fast moving fire on Mountainside Road was brought under control by faster moving first responders Monday, officials said.
Shortly before 4:30 p.m. the Mendham Township Police, Brookside Engine Company 1, Ralston Engine Company No 1 and the Mendham Township First Aid Squad responded to the brush fire which was moving fast towards Horizon Drive homes, according to authorities.
Numerous officers went to Overlook Drive alerting homeowners and started a fire break behind them until fire departments and forest fire units arrived. A fire break is a barrier of cleared or plowed land intended to check a forest or grass fire.
