  1. The Arriaga family knew what COVID-19 was capable of, having lost a family member during the pandemic. So when Ruben Arriaga Sr., of Saddle Brook began gasping for air in January, the family called 911. He beat COVID-19 fafter 100 days, and now he may need a lung transplant.(Read more on Patch)
  2. A shooting wounded four people on Mother's Day in Newark, including a woman who was left "bleeding profusely," authorities said. Fortunately, responding officers applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. (Read more on Patch)
  3. Less is more is the new motto for some renters in Jersey City as a building with micro apartments was unveiled in Journal Square over the weekend. (Read more on Patch)
  4. Two firefighters were injured while battling a house fire in Bridgewater on Mother's Day.
    The fire broke out at a home on Coyle Trail at 12:08 p.m. on Sunday in the Martinsville section of town. (Read more on Patch)
  5. An injured hiker on Pyramid Mountain was rescued Monday afternoon, and carried out by boat, according to police. The victim was hurt in the leg while hiking and required assistance getting out hiking trails. (Read more on Patch)
