AccuWeather says the storm will continue its jaunt eastward and sweep across the Northeast, from southwestern Pennsylvania to New Hampshire and Maine. This storm will move relatively fast, helping to keep snow accumulations down when compared with some of the recent storms that crossed the country, said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Adam Douty.

AccuWeather says the quick-moving nature of the storm is likely to keep most areas in the East from having more than 6 inches of snow. Even with just a couple inches of snow, however, slow-moving travel is possible on secondary roads and even some major interstates, such as parts of Interstate 80, AccuWeather says.

Here is the forecast:

  • Monday: Snow after 9 a.m., mixing with rain after 4 p.m. High near 36. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches is possible.
  • Monday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Tuesday: A slight chance of rain and snow showers before 1 p.m., then a slight chance of rain showers between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 40. West wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
