Probation For Morris Co. Man In Fake Ice Cube Slip-And-Fall

The man admitted to dumping a cup of ice on the floor and pretending to get hurt for the insurance money, officials said.

RANDOLPH, NJ — A Randolph man has pleaded guilty to his part in an insurance scam, after throwing a cup of ice cubs on the floor to stage a slip and fall, Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christie L. Bevacqua said.

Alexander Goldinsky, 58, of Randolph, pleaded guilty in August to third degree insurance fraud as part of the 2018 scam, Bevacqua said. He must serve two years of probation and 14 hours of community service; he also paid $563 in resitution to the insurance company when he was sentenced.

Goldinsky was working in Woodbridge Township at the time, working as an independent contractor hired by a local business.

In the security video taken at the business, Goldinsky can be seen filling up a cup with ice from a soda fountain and dumping it on the ground. He throws the cup away before laying down next to the ice. According to officials, Goldinsky waited there until someone else found him.

Officials say Goldinsky faked a head injury as part of the fall, which caused fake claims to go through insurance.
