The group were found about a mile into the park, after they were unable to find their way out.
CHESTER, NJ — A woman and three children had to be rescued after getting lost in Hacklebarney State Park over the weekend, a Morris County Parks Police spokesperson said.
The woman, a 43-year-old, and the children, who ranged in age from 5 to 13, were in the park on Nov. 10 when they lost their way and were unable to exit the park, police said. They had been in the park for about three hours.
A number of local agencies were needed to help find the hikers. Members of the Fairmount Fire Company in Long Valley used thermal imaging to help locate them in the woods.
