Addams Family Moves Into Millburn Middle School Friday

MILLBURN, NJ - The creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky Addams Family moves into Millburn Middle School for three performances of the musical comedy Friday through Sunday.

Showtimes are set for Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and a A Sunday matinee will be presented at 1 p.m.

The Addams Family Musical opened on Broadway in April 2010 and it is based on The Addams Family characters from the cartoons created by Westfield native Charles Addams. According to officials, the Addams Family first came to life in the 1960’s television series, and has also been popular on screen and stage. This Tony-Award nominated musical production brings the “creepy & kooky” characters to life for one fateful, hilarious night. Secrets are disclosed, relationships are tested, and the Addams Family must face up to the one horrible thing they’ve managed to avoid for generations: change.

English teacher Mark Oppel, is the show’s director, is also responsible for the choreography and technical design. Elizabeth Bewie, Middle School music teacher, serves as the vocal director. The MMS musical is co-produced by Marina Reilly and Dominick Pisa whose responsibilities include set design, costumes, box office, and stage crew. The set decoration has been completed by art teacher Claudia Sohr. The set for The Addams Family Musical has been constructed by Rick Cimino. The production involves 120 Middle School students in the cast and crew.

Tickets are $15 and are on sale online at mms.booktix.com . They may also be purchased in the guidance office after school and will be available at the door on the day of the performance.
