All-Way Stop At Millburn's Hobart And Highland Ave. Intersection

The change is coming Wednesday, weather permitting, officials said.

MILLBURN, NJ - This Wednesday the traffic pattern at the intersection of Hobart Avenue and Highland Avenue is changing with the installation of an all-way stop.

According to officials, the change was warranted due to an analysis conducted by the Township’s traffic consultant. At its Dec. 18 meeting the Millburn Township Committee passed an ordinance codifying this change.

This new traffic pattern is intended to reduce the number of accidents at the intersection, officials said. Advance warning signs and pavement markings will be installed on Highland Avenue to alert motorists of the new pattern.

A variable message board will be in place informing drivers of the upcoming changes.

The striping of the roadway and installation of advance warning signs will all occur on Wednesday, weather permitting. Drivers should be prepared to stop on Highland Avenue at its intersection with Hobart Avenue. The Township will continue to monitor accident and traffic data at this intersection following the installation, officials said.
