The Millburn Free Public Library is pleased to welcome Anthony Florio, the author of "Yankee Batboy: The Luckiest Kid in New York," on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 7:00pm.

Anthony Florio was a batboy for the New York Yankees in 1962, 1963, and 1964. He will be speaking about his recently published book Yankee Batboy: The Luckiest Kid in New York. Anthony will share stories about growing up in Little Italy in New York, traveling with the team each summer and also during 3 World Series. He will talk about his experience with Yankee greats MICKEY MANTLE, YOGI BERRA, ROGER MARIS, WHITEY FORD, JOE PEPITONE, and many others.

Mr. Florio says: "It’s 1961 and I’m a fifteen year old kid living in Little Italy who eats, sleeps and drinks baseball; a kid who believes he’s the biggest baseball fan that ever lived and idolizes Mickey Mantle. Try to imagine how it felt for a kid like this to be asked if he’d like to be a batboy at Yankee Stadium; to actually be around the famous ballplayers of the day. This is my story, and the excitement of walking into Yankee Stadium for the first time in my life, in the very same underground tunnels that Babe Ruth had walked through. It still excites me today whenever I think about it."
